Understanding Adoption Issues and Engaging Parents and Caregivers in Play Therapy

Description: This workshop will address adoption issues and caregiver engagement.

Friday, November 6, and Saturday November 7, 2020 from 8:30am to 4:30pm – Mountain Time

The participant will be able to:

  • Participants will be able to name and describe the seven core issues of adoption and how they impact the play therapy process.
  • Participants will be able to list for child and corresponding adult attachment styles which impact play therapy treatment
  • Participants will be able to identify three barriers to parent engagement in play therapy and how to overcome them
  • Participants will be able to define wondering following and holding as they relate to engaging parents in the play therapy process
  • Participants will be able to define neuroception and one way it relates to engaging parents in play therapy
  • Participants will be able to identify 2 steps they personally need to execute to prepare for a therapy session.


Registration information: 
The registration fee is $250 for Members, $300 for Non-Members, $150 for Student Member, & $175 for Student Non-Member. The webinar platform is Zoom due to caution surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. A link will be sent for webinar access ahead of the event.
